Story Synopsis:
Nero Wolfe rejects a $5,000 offer from Ben Jensen for protective services and claims to be uninterested in the man's murderer--uninterested until Wolfe receives a similar anonymous letter threat from the murderer. Wolfe and Inspector Cramer exchange hot words when Cramer arrives with a search warrant. Archie Goodwin returns to find a fat double for Wolfe entrenched in the West 35th Street office, a double that presents more trouble than an obnoxious habit for crunching gingersnap cookies.
