Story Synopsis:
One of Stout's best thrillers! Nero Wolfe is hired to take on the FBI, and receives covert support from Inspector Cramer, who believes the feds committed murder in his town. Cramer secretly meets Archie Goodwin at a shabby hotel to warn Wolfe that the FBI plans to revoke his investigator's license; he even brings along milk for Archie. Wolfe breaks his rigid orchid schedule and leaves home on business to stage the most outlandish coup of his career. After making the FBI call uncle, Wolfe refuses to let their Director enter the brownstone, letting him ring the doorbell.
