Story Synopsis:
      Nero Wolfe reluctantly takes a bizarre case of father hunting and makes a desperate hypothesis that exposes a murderer. A rich old geezer thumbs his nose twice at Archie Goodwin before he knuckles under to Wolfe's threats of exposure. During the investigation, Inspector Cramer and Sgt. Stebbins barge into the greenhouse and begin ransacking the office; an irate Wolfe orders Stebbins from the brownstone. Hard-working Archie finds himself in a delicate situation when Lily Rowen eyes the client as a potential threat to their relationship.
